This was an actual park in Deusto, Bilbao, which no longer exists, a victim of post-Guggenheim redevelopment. Everybody here is smoking, from the oldest & youngest Iñakis to the swans. . .

 

. . . even the patrolling ertzainak, or Basque police . . .

 

. . . with the smoke from all their ciggies inevitably attacking yours truly. . .

 

. . . these untouchable & unapproachable daddies' little rich girl throwbacks to the 60s were nicknamed by some "neguríticas", as they invariably lived in the well-to-do area of Neguri. I could probably still name a few. I wonder what they're doing now, over 20 years after this snapshot? . . .
